Korean Air readies for A380 launch from New York

July 27th 2011

By Jerry Limone

Korean Air will fly the first commercial Airbus A380 from New York to Asia on Aug. 9, when the double-deck jet departs Kennedy Airport for South Korea.

The airline’s A380 will have 407 seats, fewer than any other A380 in service, Korean Air said. Next week, the airline said, it will unveil passenger amenities that "won’t be found on any other airline."

Korean Air's A380 will fly out of New York on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until September, when the airline is planning to fly it daily.

The airline’s New York-Seoul service will continue to be twice daily, as Korean Air will fly a Boeing 777 in addition to the A380.
